Otoplasty (Ear Aesthetics)

What is Otoplasty?

Otoplasty is an aesthetic surgical procedure that corrects ear deformities. In some individuals, weak ear cartilage prevents adequate fold formation, causing prominent ears.

Prominent ear problems are generally genetic and become visible from age 6.

How is it Performed?

Otoplasty is performed under local anesthesia or sedation. The operation takes approximately 1 hour. Correction is made through an invisible incision behind the ear.

Recommended Age

The ear reaches adult size around age 6. To prevent psychological trauma, surgery before school age is recommended. Otoplasty can be performed at any age.

Post-Surgery

A pressure bandage is applied to both ears. After removal, patients are advised to wear a headband covering their ears.
